Nashville's original
black violinist
I picked up violin when I was 9 years old. I fell in love with the instrument. (10 years in so far). In my earlier years, I was trained classically and played in orchestras. I have had opportunities like playing for the TMEA at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and, receiving Best Orchestra in the Spotlight Awards. I enjoyed Nashville State's Jazz Ensemble for 2 years. I have also ventured into other genres such as Pop, R&B, Country, etc. Now, I play a mix of Jazz and R&B, and other genres upon request.
I play violin simply because I love the instrument. I love how the it sounds, how if makes me feel, how it can move others, and I love sharing my joy with people. Violin is my home, I always feel at home when I play. I enjoy creating, whether that be drawing, painting, sewing, or playing violin. That’s what makes me, me. I just love it to do it, it makes me happy. So, being able to share that with others is
a gift. I haven’t put the violin down since the age of 9.
I've been featured alongside multiple Grammy-winning artists, Demola the Violinist, Belmont University's Rhose Studio Strings, and bandmates of BB King, Roy Orbison and Lil Milton. Also featured several times on Nashville News Channels 4 and 5.
More venues include: Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Nashville International Airport, Gaylord Opryland, Omni Hotel Nashville, City Winery, Tootsie’s World Famous Orchid Lounge, Analog at the Hutton Hotel, Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, Jazz on the Cumberland, The Nashville Black Market, Nashville State Community College, National African-American Museum of Music, Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, and Fisk University.
I have also performed for: Wyatt Johnson Subaru, BDHEA Conference, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville, Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators, Tennessee Flavors, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Metro Nashville Airport Authority, Vanderbilt’s Black Student Association, Nashville African Street Festival, and ShopBlackFest.
P.S. Look for me on a city bus around Nashville! And a billboard!
